This is my life now πŸ–Œ Buying a house on my own This is my life now πŸ–Œ Buying a house on my own has meant lots of learning curves are being thrown at me left, right and centre and the journey has barely begun yet. It's only been one month since I got the keys to my house and I think I'll be lucky if I'm actually moved in before the end of the year. New carpets turned into needing to paint the whole house before the floors go in, and taking the tiles off the kitchen walls turned into replacing the whole kitchen. It's funny how these things spiral, but it's all exciting so I'm rolling with it! Here are some things I've discovered in my first month of home ownership/renovation... - The house you buy is often in worse nick than you initially anticipated when you put in your offer. So be prepared! - Your savings get eaten up very quickly by unglamorous things like broken windows, new floors, fixing dodgy electrics etc. - Painting is surprisingly therapeutic! But choosing colours for the walls is more stressful than you think... - Bills cost more than your mortgage payment πŸ˜… - Don't expect everything to get done straight away. Good things take time (and money) so be prepared to wait for your dream home to be complete. 🏑 What was the biggest learning curve you experienced when buying your first home? πŸ”‘ #firsttimebuyer

Is it just me or has this month been absolutely whizzing by?? I know festivities are going to be very different this year but I'm so keen to celebrate Halloween and Christmas more than ever. Even if Covid means no parties to go to, surely we can still enjoy the simple, fun traditions. Maybe this is the year we scale it all back and remember the simple pleasures of this time of year... What are your plans for Halloween this year? πŸŽƒ
It's my 'day off' - hollaaaaarrrr! 🍳 Today I am It's my 'day off' - hollaaaaarrrr! 🍳 Today I am looking forward to getting my hair refreshed, writing a story, and choosing my kitchen. πŸ™Œ Plans for my house have changed slightly and now, instead of getting the bathroom done and leaving the kitchen be for a couple of years, I'm now getting the kitchen done instead (which I think we can all agree is way more exciting anyway). But did anybody else find choosing a kitchen really stressful?? It's such a huge expense that I'm worried about choosing the wrong thing and not liking what I choose when it's all in. So I am struggling to settle on a cabinet/worktop combination. Anyone got any tips for designing your kitchen? Head over to my stories to check out where I'm upto and what I'm thinking. 🏠

We got a sneak peek at the festive Betty's brunch and afternoon tea and I can confirm that it looks darn beautiful. As soon as it launches I will be rushing back to the cafe to guzzle it all up. I wonder what Christmas will be like this year... πŸŽ„

I've been painting this morning and now I'm heading out to Ripley for lunch with my best friend. I think I'm finally figuring out how Sundays are meant to be spent. πŸ™Œ Happy Sunday!
I like to think the weekend begins on Thursday, ju I like to think the weekend begins on Thursday, just so that I can extend the fun activities as much as possible. Last night, my sister and I had a pizza date at @sant_angelos_wetherby_ and it was such a lovely way to spend the evening. I had the Sant Angelos Pizza, with king prawns on (I've never liked the idea of a seafood pizza before but it was calling out to me) and I'm glad I chose it - it was sooooo tasty! While my sister had a huge stuffed calzone. πŸ• #giftedexperience Despite all the craziness and isolation of this year, I've certainly managed to make up for the lost time and eaten out at so many great new places. Maybe I should make my goal by the end of the year to have eaten at as many restaurants in the Harrogate and surrounding areas as possible. Now that's a resolution I could get behind! πŸ˜‰ #localgem
