Does anyone else feel like week 5 of lockdown happened and suddenly our mental health plummeted?
I know it did for me and I have really struggled to stay motivated and focused. I feel hopeless and like I can’t see a future right now. All this is probably because we have no idea how long it is going to be before lockdown is lifted and we can climb out of our pyjamas and rejoin society.
We feel like we can’t make plans right now because we don’t know how long it will be before things go back to ‘normal’. The luxuries we have taken for granted such as meeting a friend in a coffee shop, meeting people in bars, planning holidays, going to the gym, and hell, going into work(!); they are all things that have become a part of our day-to-day life and we want to do them but can’t. And we don’t know how long it will be before we get to do them again…
Despite my low moments, I try to focus on finding the positives in the situation. Right now, I have a job I can still do from home, I have time to plan my next steps in life and I can do it all in the comfort of my PJs. Winner!
And when the PJs are as comfy and cute as this Dream Odyssey loungewear set from ‘A Gift From The Gods‘, it’s easier not to feel guilty about spending all day in them.
If you take a look in my study, you will find an OBSCENE amount of notebooks, journals, and planners. Goodness knows why I need so many, but I NEED THEM. Each one serves its own purpose so I can re-find whatever doodlings and notes I’m looking for.
My latest one to the collection is this super cute notebook and weekly planner from the Dream Odyssey collection from A Gift From The Gods. Aside from the fact it is my favourite colour, it has become my dream travel notebook!
Instead of feeling trapped and like there is no future, I am going to look forward to the future and all the things yet to come. Plus this time stuck at home just gives me more time to save money for my dream travel destinations!
Last year was an amazing experience travelling by myself. It was a liberating experience and I’m now forever thinking of how next time I do it I’ll step outside of my comfort zone more. Europe was a great starter, but next time I think I want to go further afield.
Australia and New Zealand are definitely bucket list material, but I’d also love to take on parts of Asia. I don’t know whether I’m brave enough to do those on my own quite yet though (having a peanut allergy doesn’t make me feel too confident about eating in Asia safely).
Obviously, it’s going to take a while to save up for trips so far afield, so I’m taking this lockdown as an opportunity to save as much money as possible so that when we can fly and travel again, I am ready to go!
I’ve been struggling to feel motivated for my dreams recently, so taking the time to write down lists of my dreams and aspirations in my Dream Odyssey notebook has really helped to set some goals in place to give me something to look forward to during a time when the future feels so uncertain.
If you, too, are finding it difficult to find the motivation to stick to a routine in lockdown and are struggling to even put on clothes in the morning, then just don’t! This is not a time to put extra stress on ourselves. Keep your loungewear on, ignore your chores and spend some time dreaming and thinking positively about the great things you’re going to do once this has all blown over.
Stay home, stay safe, and stay positive!
