Tea Time At Mama Doreen’s
As I’m leaving the country at the end of the week, my time is currently spent doing a mixture of packing, panicking, and squeezing in goodbye’s with all my friends and family…
So a fitting ‘see ya real soon’ with my friend Lucie (who owns Destination Beauty in Harrogate), who is always dressed in the cutest of dresses, matching heels, and makeup done to perfection, is to go somewhere equally as characterful.
And what better place than ‘Mama Doreen’s Cupcake Emporium‘ on Cold Bath Road in Harrogate?
We grabbed a spot of Afternoon Tea in the window seat of the adorable cafe, next to a table of women enjoying a Baby Shower. (I momentarily felt like we were gate crashing their celebrations, but seeing as they were playing Disney music over the speakers, I figured it was acceptable that we should be there.)
We each had a cake platter, with an assortment of mini treats such as lemon drizzle cake, scones with jam and cream, chocolate cupcakes, cinnamon apple slices etc. Along side, we each had a pot of tea, and spent a good hour and a half chatting away and enjoying our treats.
The surroundings are so twee and girly, the prices of afternoon tea options are very reasonable, (our cake platter was £6.95 each), and the food is delicious. It was the perfect setting for our ‘friend date’.
If you haven’t tried Mama Doreen’s yet, take your mum for Mothers Day, take your friend for a birthday treat, host your Baby Shower there, or even if it’s just a Tuesday and you need a sugar fix, take yourself there!
As Brits we can’t refuse a bit of stereotypical Afternoon Tea, and nowhere does it cuter than ‘Mama Doreen’s‘.
